Hi everyone. Just after some opinions if you don't mind please?

Coving, yay or nay?

I am doing up my living room and I am wondering if it's worth it?

Is it outdated/in? I have no idea. Please help. Thank you.

Do you live in a period property? Yes= "in" No=naff

If you live in a period property totally yes, obviously get one that fits the period. Otherwise no, don't do it.

I have no idea if it is in or not but I think rooms look horrible unfinished without it. Had it added to the bedrooms of my previous 1960s house and to those of my current Edwardian house.

The latter had it downstairs already and picture rails.

My builders said it covers any cracks where ceiling meets wall. I think it's elegant and neat.

Definitely do it if it's a period properly, we spent a fortune getting plaster coving made to copy the original style where it had been destroyed throughout most of the properly and it looks amazing. We didn't do it in the kitchen and left it with no coving and still looks nice. There is one room with cheaper coving which looks pretty rubbish compared to the plaster stuff.

I'm inclined to say no coving if not a period property.

I think it looks messy and cheap without. But if your ceilings are low then you could possibly get away with it.

In a modern house I would have the standard gyproc coving as it looks unfinished without it. In a period property original decorative plasterwork is stunning if done correctly.

Thank you everyone. Not in a period property just a little mid terrace. I think I'll leave it. Thank you all for your help.
