Estate agent not using Rightmove problem?

We're thinking of selling our house we live in a fairly unique house in a village in a desirable area, and there is no other properties in our village on the market let alone like our house. We've had two estate agents in one we liked more than the other (they are based in our village and we felt knew the area and what sort of house are generally available here better) but they are not one Rightmove they use Prime Location On the Market and Zoopla. Would this out you off? Whenever I've looked for property I've only ever used Riughtmove.
Both were charging the same commission.

I’d want Rightmove too.

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 03/09/2021 15:31

We only ever used rightmove. I've never even heard of Prime Location.

Mamainthemaking · 03/09/2021 15:50

When I was buying I frequented all sites. Now my parents would like to move into the area, they are also using all the sites. We are from London, so perhaps we’re more used to the idea of having to research in lots of places. As it would seem we are in the minority.

You have to be on Rightmove. Its not your problem that it's expensive. You need the constant traffic.

Lostmarbles2021 · 03/09/2021 18:16

I’ve just bought and used all the sites. Sometimes several times a day. Grin

Seashell1234 · 04/09/2021 20:01

I only look at Rightmove.

FurierTransform · 04/09/2021 22:00

It's possible the type of buyer for your house/area doesn't use Rightmove either, so It could make sense. I'd ask the agent about it, you're paying them...

whatthejiggeries · 04/09/2021 22:22

Another one who only looks on right move. I wouldn't use an agent that isn't on it

ThanksItHasPockets · 04/09/2021 23:23

If it’s unique / historic / architecturally interesting how about Inigo / Modern House?

nocoolnamesleft · 04/09/2021 23:39

When I bought, I only used rightmove.

Twiglets1 · 05/09/2021 00:05

Another vote for the agent that uses Rightmove. You pay an agent to advertise your property so they should accept paying commission to Rightmove is part of the deal and vital to their business

ShingleBeach · 05/09/2021 08:30

It’s funny: everyone on MN always links to RM, but when I was buying I found the search facility and options so much better on Zoopla.

But it seems mad not to include RM.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/09/2021 08:38

I deal with estate agents as part of my job and you wouldn't believe how expensive it is to have a rightmove package. I can see why smaller estate agents sometimes don't bother.

However, when I was searching for my new house I did mainly use rightmove and would be a little put off if my estate agent wasn't using them.

sst1234 · 05/09/2021 11:12

Any agent not in rightmove is wasting theirs and their clients time. Rightmove is by far the highest visibility platform to get your property marketed. Cannot wait until Rightmove start allowing individuals to market their own properties and cut out the useless EAs.

There is no such type of buyer unless OP’s target market is Russian Oligarchs.
OldTinHat · 05/09/2021 11:15

When I was house hunting I looked at every website there was. I actually found mine on On The Market.

fellrunner85 · 05/09/2021 12:03

If the estate agent isn't meeting your needs you could try purple bricks and save yourself some money;a friend of mine said it was a brilliant service and her house sold within 2 weeks of going on the market

Ha ha Grin IME the issue with purple bricks isn't selling the house in the first place, but the total lack of sales progression afterwards.

As for the OPs question, you would be nuts not to go on Rightmove. Yes, lots of people use Zoopla etc too. But as this thread proves, a significant proportion of people only go on Rightmove. Why would you deliberately omit all those potential buyers?

maofteens · 05/09/2021 12:51

Rightmove. And please don't use purple bricks - they will be totally ignorant of the uniqueness of your house and village and it turns me off a house seeing it listed with them.

Beefmeupscotty · 05/09/2021 12:57

I mainly used zoopla. I thought most people used both so doubt it would be an issue. If you restrict yourself (as a buyer) to only checking one site, you know you're going to miss out on some properties.

fellrunner85 · 05/09/2021 13:11

Yes. So why, as a seller, would you deliberately exclude those buyers? Especially when you can go with estate agents who do include Rightmove for the same price? It doesn't make sense.

ShingleBeach · 05/09/2021 13:28

As a buyer I used every site possible: didn’t want to miss or be late spotting anything.

As a buyer I also feel-prioritised anything on PurpleBricks as we were in a chain and I didn’t believe they would be of any use at all, based on many other people’s experience when things got a bit tricky during sales progression. The EAs solved a few really difficult issues in our chain with advice, recommendations, soothing of nerves and tempers…

Beefmeupscotty · 05/09/2021 15:07

Because as a seller it costs. You might choose an EA with the best reputation/most sales/personal recommendation even if they don't use a certain site. As a buyer it's free to check all sites or even set alerts if you're oh so busy to check.

baceBen · 05/09/2021 15:12

I'd say rightmove would be my go to when looking for a property

WallaceinAnderland · 05/09/2021 15:27

@thinkingofselling

Thank you all I just wish the other one had better local knowledge.
If you are not in a hurry to move I would go with the local agents but ONLY if they drop their commission substantially. Otherwise I'd go with rightmove.
eightlivesdown · 05/09/2021 15:48

You will get a lot more views from Rightmove than any other portal.
