Power line compensation

Has anyone ever claimed? Are their any drawbacks to claiming. We have 2 posts with lines in our garden and I spoke to someone from a no win/ no fee group who said the payout would be roughly between £2-£4K if successful based on nearby similar properties.

Is it worth going through?

Do you currently have a wayleave agreement? You should be receiving regular payments from the electricity network.

We’ve just moved in so not received any payments to date.

First we had ever heard of a wayleave was when we got a letter from one of those no win no fee people. We looked it up, filled in the claim form ourselves and got a put £350. So not as much as the company claimed (no surprise) but we kept100% of it

You don't need to go through any companies, who will take a large chunk of any money you receive.
Just ring the power line company's wayleave dept, give your address and postcode and they'll tell you what you should be getting. It may be that a previous owner already had an agreement, but that should have come up in your searches when you bought. It's really simple,I rang ours after getting a no win no fee letter and did it all myself, they were very helpful. I didn't even have a pole in my garden, just overhead lines and I think I was paid £250 for 5 years. It's very straightforward and easy.
