Did we stand any chance against cash buyer?

We lost out again to a cash buyer, on a dream home. Don’t tell me something else will come along, as in this market currently, for that money, I can assure you it won’t!
I am so surprised by my response to this. I haven’t stopped crying for the past few days. And I can’t seem to accept it. I keep trying to rationalise it.
There were 3 offers all at asking price and they went with the cash buyer.
Could we have done more?? Or was there always no chance? My head is filled with ‘what ifs’.
I know this sounds extreme (and crazy) but we love it so much —also have a 6 week old baby so it could be hormonal—

There is a lot here I hadn’t thought of, thank you.

Still praying they either pull out, or we win the lottery

The cash buyers dropped out!!! And the house is ours (providing nothing falls through).
Can’t believe it actually happened. Apparently it was due to illness but I obviously don’t know the full details

When I sold I went to the highest offer rather than the lower offer cash buyer. I was happy to wait a bit longer to get more money.

Wow I'm glad you're getting the house although hope the unwell cash buyer makes a speedy and full recovery.

We had the same happen to us very recently. The owner and his sibling did consider our offer even though the cash buyer had offered first, so I had a bit of hope that our offer was at least a higher value. They went ahead with the cash buyer though.

I thought a house like that would never come up again. Funnily enough something did come up yesterday, however we aren't allowed to view it because we haven't found a buyer for our house yet (have had it valued but been advised it would sell in 1-2 weeks so we did want to find something first).

Going to have to re-think our approach now and probably sell and risk having nowhere to live. I am also pregnant, baby 3 due in January.
