1930s Fireplace - what to do with it?

Hi.
So we could do with a little bit of advice.
We moved into a 1930s property at the end of last year and slowly been tackling each room in turn. We have original fireplaces in both bedrooms which had both been painted white by the previous owners. It’s taken us a day or two to strip this one back and we just can’t decide whether we like it or not. It’s got a lot more depth to it compared to just being painted over but then I don’t know….is it awful? Thoughts please? The colour scheme on the walls is staying so we won’t be repainting that.

@Nowisthemonthofmaying

It looks gorgeous!

I love the wardrobes too, what was the IKEA hack you used?

Thanks everyone Smile

It's called the IKEA PAX hack.
You basically buy the PAX wardrobe and build it in yourself by making a base and then boxing it in. It wasn't too bad to do if you've got the tools and it saved us a bit of money at the time.

We made a slight error in that we built the base on the floor, but put the skirting to sit on the carpet as we weren't intending to change it originally. So now we've got a small gap at the bottom which we need to sort out!

Looks fantastic! What a beautiful home.
Can’t believe the amount of people that hate features in bedrooms/ would rip out Art Deco features 😱

Your fireplaces are absolutely beautiful, good on you for preserving them.
I adore 1930’s architecture and would love to live in a 30’s house.

My house is a very very dull 1950s military house.
