New front door - narrower? Does this cause a problem?

My house is fairly modern and built in the last 22 years, but the front door is beginning to cause problems. I've been searching the various companies online to get ideas. I've also noticed quite a few on the estate are starting to replace the front doors and they look like the composite doors I've been googling. Some look really good and I've noted the makes.

However, one thing has struck me. All the replacement doors are narrower than our original doors and the frames have been built up to compensate. Is this part of the design to accommodate the locking mechanisms, compared to my existing Yale and mortice lock? Some of the ones I've seen across the estate look better than others with regards to the frames, depending on the colours used.

I've measured up and although the new doors are standard size, it appears that we loose about 6-8cm on each side. Do you think this will cause an issue?
The front door is the only access I could use for large furniture deliveries or removal men, so I wonder if this has caused anyone any problems?
Many thanks.

We got a new front door recently and it was made to measure.

Also think about wheelchair/pram access.

I don’t think you’ll ever worry about having too wide a door, but you may regret going narrower.

I would imagine it’s cheaper to get a standard size, but maybe compare what it would be to replace with a made to measure one that fits your wider doorway.

In terms of deliveries and stuff I would have thought as long as it’s still standard width it would be ok especially if there’s turning room once through the door. but obviously always useful to have a wider opening

Well past pram stage, but I hadn't thought about wheelchair access - good point!
The hall is only just wider than the door with no turning space so house moving or new furniture could be an issue. So I'll investigate how much more custom made doors would be. Has anyone got any ideas, please?
I used a really good company for a new side garage door and electric garage door, and as I was really pleased had originally planned to go back to them, but they only door standard sizes.
