Kitchen Reno prep

I’ve been renovating my house for the last 8 months (moved in December 2020) and I’m now at the stage where I’m replacing the kitchen. It’s a kitchen diner, with a large dining and living space. The flooring is being replaced too, right from the hall and cloakroom through to the kitchen diner. The kitchen is being taken out over a couple of days then the plasterer and electrician are in for a day and then there’s 3-4 days where the flooring is being laid (LVT).
The problem I have is where I’m going to store everything while the flooring is being laid. I’ve got one other living room downstairs, then there’s two bedrooms full of furniture already and a tiny box room used as an office. There will be boxes of kitchen contents, a small round glass dining table and chairs, bookcase, sideboard and IKEA large storage unit. There’s also the built in oven that I’m keeping. I’ve got a shed where I can squeeze something in (sideboard or dining table) but I’ll struggle to store the rest. I was thinking of buying a Keter type storage unit for the garden to store the cupboard contents, but in reality it’s only while the floor is being laid that I’ll struggle for space. How could I store stuff outside and make it weatherproof? Tarpaulin??

I'm in the same position. We're going to dismantle the spare bed and stack that room floor to ceiling with stuff. Cardboard box collection is coming on well.

The dresser will have to live in the hall ( might just squeeze past) and the dining table? No idea. Maybe squashed up next to the piano. It's a pain.
Could you farm anything out to friends or family?

Would you consider using a storage company?

You can pay someone to come and pick it up and store it for a few days. Or hire a van and take it to storage yourself.

We are doing a renovation while living in the house and are constantly playing furniture jenga.

So spare room put bed up against the wall, moved everything to the side, stacked what could be stacked on each other and filled it so full you could only just open the door.

Also stacked dining room table against wall, piled chairs on it, stored boxes underneath. If it's only for a few days you can probably make it work. Maybe put the oven in your car boot.

They also need somewhere to put the new kitchen while they work out which bits go where, they are using the dining room and hall for us with that.

Putting the oven in the boot is a good idea. My hall is being floored too, and anyway is really narrow. I think I'm going to have to stack everything in the front room, stuff what I can in the shed and basically live in my bedroom like a teenager Grin

I was hoping someone had a genius idea about outside temporary storage that I hadn't considered 🤣

I need to keep my eye on the prize and think how good it will be when it's all done. My mantra is 'it will all be worth it'.......
