Offers over house price - absolute crack den

Hi! We’ve seen a house that is marketed offers over £550,000. There were no photos of inside so suspected would be bad but literally never seen anything like it. It was like one of those hoarders programmes on Tv, rubbish, stuff everywhere and so dirty! It’s rented atm and tenants refused to leave so that was awkward hoping the kids wouldn’t comment on how disgusting it was!

However it’s got potential and I can see past the filth (and all the work it needs to renovate it as doesn’t look like it’s been touched in 30 years) as it ticks all the boxes in terms of location/size etc.

Problem is I don’t think it’s worth over 550,000, my estimation is more £525,000. Has anyone offered this much lower than an offers over price and been successful? I would be shocked if they got asking for it tbh!

It’s also a gamble even at 525 as you can’t see half the house as covered in crap!

Anyone else had a similar situation?!

So estate agent says they’ve had multiple offers -one significantly over the asking price! Really shocked at that! Won’t be bothering to go in with an offer 25k under 🤣

I think you have dodged a bullet. IF and its a big if , they did leave it vacant they wouldn't take all their stuff, it cost thousands to cleat and God knows what you would find. Do you live near,it will be interesting seeing what happens, my money is on tenants still there next year.

MissMarpleTheMurderer I think you might be right! We live reasonably near by but not close enough to know if they are refusing to budge! It’s so frustrating as it’s only one of 2 houses that’s come up that fit what we are looking for in the right location - honestly thought we may have a chance considering the state of it (I believe it’s mostly mess and dirt) which I could see past. But they fact someone has offered so much more makes me worry we won’t find anything in our budget!
