Another Q about my new kitchen - this time about the floor

We’ve chosen handleless very light grey (quite bluish) cabinet doors with stunning cornflower blue tiles on the splash back. We just can’t agree/decide on the flooring. Room faces north east and is approx 11’ by 14’

DH thinks white gloss tiles. I think LVT or similar but no idea on colour/pattern. Current floor is dark brown cheap plasticky laminate - we loathe it!!

My bamboo flooring is throughout the whole ground floor in both high and low traffic areas. No scratching. The only area they don’t recommend it for is bathrooms and even then they say it isn’t intended for bathrooms but plenty of their customers have used it without any issues.

The herringbone parquet is glued down, I think some of the other styles float over underlay.

I’d order a sample to check about the staining on the lighter colours. I only tested the chestnut abc the medium colour, not any of the lighter ones. When I was looking they sent free haribos with my samples too! If you go onto their website you can also do a virtual tour of the showroom.

In terms of the fitting of the bamboo parquet it’s tongue and grooved so it all slots together like jigsaw pieces and gets glued down. Fairly straightforward once you’ve got your lines right.

I should say however that we are mid renovation and so mine hasn’t been down for years, only a couple of months.

I'm very interested in this question. We are a long way from picking flooring but it is of course good to have decided which we will be going with.

We know we will have underfloor heating and have been advised by Karndean to tell them which UFH system we plan to use in order for the compatibility with their flooring options.

Now I read here that porcelain tiles are 'better'. Porcelain appears to compare very favourably on cost, are they really better all round? What are their disadvantages ?
