Anyone else wake up and think 'today is the day my new house will come on Rightmove!' and yet, it never is...

Anyone else in the same boat? We've been house hunting for roughly 4,000 years. Every day I scroll the house websites with excitement, certain that today will be the day we find our dream house. It never is Sad

Next baby due very soon and nowhere to put them once they're out the bedside cot. Absolutely nothing coming on the market that is remotely suitable, even with a wide ranging search area and a healthy budget.

We also haven't sold (as I don't want to be homeless with 3 children) and I'm paranoid that when The One comes onto the market they won't accept an offer from us as we haven't sold. We think we would sell in a matter of days, but they would need to trust us on that.

We leafleted the potential candidates near us but didn't hear back. Stuck for other ideas except another leaflet run.

DH is ridiculously fussy as well which is hard work...

Thanks for all the mix of responses.

Market is brisk but not crazy crazy here - most decent houses selling within 7 - 10 days. When we bought our current house (2015) it sold within 3 days with 9 offers Shock so I'm hoping we'd be towards to quicker end of that. Because we're looking further up the chain I suspect there will be fewers buyers - there are not an abundance of £750k+ buyers kicking around our town but there are one or two.

I wouldn't actually expect a second viewing really, I think DH and I will know when we see the right thing. We've waited so long and we're after something so specific that we'll just know.

I'll contact the local agents again today just to say we're still looking, keep us in mind and we're ready to put our house on the market as soon as we see the right thing.

The great news is today WILL be the day our dream house comes onto Rightmove Grin

What if the dream house comes on the market and they sell to someone else purely because they are proceedable? You run the risk of waiting ages for the perfect house and then not be in a position to move fast.

Yes, I'm afraid I'm with @wallaceinanderland. If there is ANY competition whatsoever for your dream house when it finally.comes up, your offer will be the one not accepted if you're the one not on the market. If I were you I'd go on the market and get an offer on, but make really really clear to your buyer that you need to find somewhere and that it could take a while. If you're not willing to go into rental, make that clear. If the buyer knows the situation and are willing to wait that's upto them. That way you can wait out the perfect property no problem.

Incidentally, when you are leafletting, it can also be worth leafletting houses that you like that are under offer (you can find out on Rightmove). Not with a view to gazumpting or anything horrible like that, but in case they lose their buyer and need someone to step in quickly.
