If you have Karndean flooring, would you recommend it?

Just about to have a new kitchen fitted and we are considering Karndean, but reviews that I have seen are mixed.

The colour that we like the most is in the cheapest range (Knight Tile) and only has a 2mm wear layer - can anyone who has had this fitted advise on its durability and whether it scratches easily?

Or if you have had any of the other Karndean ranges, would you recommend them?

I have Karndean throughout downstairs and in all bathrooms. We had knight tiles fitted 10 years ago and when we ripped them up to fit new kitchen they looked as good as the day we had put down. The more recently laid karndean is also knight range and we have about 6 areas where it’s chipped, cut ( dropped knife) etc. I would buy the Van Gogh or above as quality has definitely reduced recently but it’s still worth it IMO

We have Polyflor Camero and we have had no problems. It’s certainly not scratch proof but it’s hard wearing, doesn’t show dirt and much cheaper than Kardean.

@Oliack1417

We have it in our hallway and again in the kitchen, it's worn really well and v easy to clean etc.
Really like that.

I have everything in my house-

Old kitchen (just come out) was commercial grade laminate. Its shite, don’t go there. If you drop something heavy and it breaks the laquer then you’re dealing with exposed paper. It also scratched really easily.
Hallway is original 1950s oak parquet and is very hard wearing, no issues (but it was dented and scratched when we moved in and so we haven’t tried to keep it immaculate)
High grade Karndean in teenagers bathrooms. No issues but it doesn’t look like real wood it looks like karndean.
Bamboo parquet - my recommendation. Its sustainable, twice as tough as oak, cheaper than real wood and it looks really good.

@eleflump
Yes! That's it, the lime washed oak. Will find a better picture.

Slightly better view.

@Oliack1417 thank you - that would be great!

How long have you had it laid?

@eleflump
The hallway has been laid for 4 years, and is still looks as good as the day it was put down.
The kitchen was laid in April when we extended. We're really pleased with it.

Thank you @Oliack1417 - your kitchen is amazing!!!!

I am so tempted to go with this now - the herringbone style is what we had chosen too.

My parents have Kardean in their kitchen. It still looks good.

I'm
Having my kitchen done and my fitter has recommended quickstep.

TattyDevine · 05/08/2021 14:54

I've got quickstep luxury vinyl (not laminate but the same stuff as Amtico/Karndean)

I had it fitted then new skirting boards on top.

Had it 6 years now it's like new.

You can stamp on it with a stiletto and it still looks like new. You can drag chairs and tables around with no hassle and all sorts.

TattyDevine · 05/08/2021 14:55

Just to add it has a solid "sound" without the squeaky/hollow sound some types of flooring give.

Definitely a "forever floor"
