Topps Attingham Seagrass tiles

Does anyone have these in a fully tiled bathroom? I have planned to use them for a while but now that it has come to buy them am having a wobble because I don’t want to get it wrong.

They’re for an en suite that needs to be fully tiled due to paint flaking/not holding on the walls. We have looked into this and likely solved the problem but now want to go with fully tiled anyway to be absolutely sure that we won’t get future issues and have to redo the room again.

The room is quite small, with about a third at one end taken up with the shower cubicle but we have high ceilings, so am concerned that the colour variation in these tiles will make it look muddly due to the volume of tiles. However, I like the tile size, want green and metro - I’m not bothered about it looking like a public toilet Smile and I think that metro tiles go with older houses like ours but don’t want the amount of grout in smaller tiles.

We have Attingham Seasgrass (around bath, shower, toilet) and Earth in shower cubicle. Love the colours and style but can’t comment on fully tiled. We found the larger tiles meant they did not suit brick formation (as bow slightly) so we have them in straight lines which is not a problem.

Thanks, they look lovely - and that’s interesting to hear about the problem with brick formation.

Love them!

This is my flat from when I bought it.

Just noticed previous comment about brick formation, makes sense but seems they managed it in mine (before I bought it):

Thanks for the picture @1990s, yours look lovely too. I drove across to Topps today to see if I could get more of an idea but they didn’t have the seagrass colour on display, so it’s great to see pictures of them in people’s homes.

Why is the paint flaking? Is it humidity from the bathroom, or damp from the walls (which might affect tiles too)? Paint ought not to flake if the wall is sound, the surface is prepared properly and the correct type of paint is used.

Yes, we have them and love them, haven’t had an issue with the brick formation. We haven’t gone fully tiled, but high around the shower and then dado height round the whole room.

I second the comment about wanting to know the reason for flaky paint. Tiles not adhering would be a costly mistake.

The flaking paint was because of humidity due to a lack of ventilation - we used to have to keep wiping mould of the walls too. There’s a smallish window on a north facing wall but no extractor fan, as there’s no way of fitting one, but we’re now using a dehumidifier and keeping it at about 50% which seems to have sorted the problem - luckily it can easily be plugged in and stored close to the bathroom and doesn’t need to run for very long. It’s currently partially tiled and there’s been no problem with tile adhesion.

Hi there, just wondered how these tiles are with dirt and water? I love them but I heard glossy tiles leave a lot of marks. Thanks!

Raising this zombie to ask if anyone has any spare seagrass tiles they'd be willing to sell- we are changing our shower and will have to remove a couple of tikes and we only have one spare
