Kitchen question - how to line up boiler cupboard?

Our boiler cupboard is taller (and deeper) then the other kitchen wall units. Should we line it up with the top or bottom of the other wall units? I think either way it might look a bit odd as we have a cornice and pelmet! Any thoughts / example photos would be amazing! Thank you 😊

In our old kitchen, the boiler cupboard stuck out compared to the rest of the row and in the new kitchen, it will be in line with the rest of the row, which will be deeper and taller than standard. If you want, I am PM you photos of both after the new one is fitted? Won't be until mid-August though, so it depends how urgently you need to decide!

@Cosybelles thanks for your reply. Did it hang down lower than the other units too? Ours is going to be 90cm tall and the other wall units are only 72cm so I'm not sure if it should be aligned to be higher or lower than the rest?

Will you definitely need the worktop space below it do you think? Am wondering if you could swap it for either a full-height unit that has the boiler section on top or have a counter standing unit that differentiates it from the rest of the wall units?

Do you have a kitchen plan you could share?

I lined mine up at the top and had the cabinet go down to the worktop to hide the pipes. It was the end of the run at a corner so looked fine.

Cosybelles · 28/07/2021 16:03

I think it hung down to the same level as the other units..

We aligned the bottom of ours and the boiler cupboard was just taller, I saw that in loads of pictures of fitted kitchen so thought it was the done thing - it looks fine

I mean boiler cupboard was 900mm and others were 720mm and the bottoms were in a line

I'm in this dilemma.... problem is my boiler is in the middle of the room. My two choices were larder cupboard, but that breaks the flow, or a custom made cupboard which will be lower than the others to the side of it but maintains the run of the worktop.
I've gone for option two and I felt the worktop flowing through looked better than the divide of the larder.

Op how can do it people get this cabinet around the pipes on wall?
Do you cut into the cupboard?

cestunestilo · 28/07/2021 17:43

Usually the top would be aligned in this situation

Not fully finished yet - still to do tiling below and painting away of horrible magnolia, but our utility was done like the pic below. Old cornice was removed and a top wooden filler installed to be painted over so there is no top space above the units.

Ours is in the corner of the kitchen, and our units are full height up to the ceiling. In order to avoid an annoying gap at the bottom the boiler cupboard comes down to the worktop, but has a false drawer section at the bottom held by magnets so the cupboard can open over any washing up that is waiting (kitchen fitter quickly cottoned onto how we do our housework, or not!)

MotherOfCrocodiles · 28/07/2021 18:29

Surely it depends on where the boiler comes down to? You don't have much choice about the boiler cupboard but the others could line up top or bottom- likely only one will be the right height so you can reach the cupboards/ use the worktop

MotherOfCrocodiles · 28/07/2021 18:30

And yes you will need to cut a hole in the top for pipes
