Hi.

Im looking at concealed wall mounted bath fillers as a bath tap. We are gettinf concealed showers so thought would look nice. Looking at two types

  1. Waterfall 'spout' types
  2. Normal looking taps but in the wall

Pro's and con's for both please?

TIA

I’m curious, what’s a concealed shower?
Is it where the showerhead is built into the ceiling?

Concealed shower: where all the bits except showerhead and on/off valve lever thing are hidden, versus having exposed fittings.

The con OP is if something goes tits up it’s much easier to fix the plumbing if you’ve got an exposed shower. Do you have kids, OP? Mine loves standing up in the bath and I’m constantly worried about her landing eye-first on the taps, we’re switching to an overflow bath mixer filler for that reason. Waterfall taps could look a bit crusty if you're in a hard water area?

I have wouldn't conceal anything personally, I've got a conceal loo and it's been a nightmare to fix.
All blocked by tiles rooy

Ok thanks.
For me, I’d be looking at volume of water per minute.
Waterfall tap look great but I don’t want to wait 30 mins for it to fill (assuming they are slower than taps).

As pp have mentioned, if there’s a leak you have a costly repair ahead, make sure you have spare tiles to replace after a repair.

We have concealed shower with 3 way valve so rainfall, hand held and then an overflow bath filler: the water comes out at the same rate as a mixer tap and it looks neater/ less to whack your knee on in the shower.

Regarding maintenance: my plumber/fitter said it was much less effort to remove tiles than a bath so any problems are less effort to fix with wall mounted (concealed or surface) than surface mounted on the bath itself.
Don't be put off concealed fixings based on ease of repair. Realistically taps don't go wrong that often!

Waterfall taps - I love how these look, but we are in a hard water area and ours gets limescale staining / build up on it which is hard/ impossible to remove. I don't think I would get them again sadly.

I think OP is only asking for opinions on which types of taps to use.

OP, waterful taps look lovely but the amount of time I spent clearing mine drove me mad so I switched them to normal taps.

Thank yoy for your responses. We are in a hard water area so probably no to waterfall given your advice about potential limescale.

Doesnt sound like a lot of negatives to gettimg a concealed unit so I think we may go for that.

Thank you all - massively helpful towards a renovation.
