Blacking out kids rooms?

Both my kids rooms have black out curtains bit because they're eyelet curtains they still let light in and both are light sleepers. We've currently got black out fabric on the windows, bit it looks rubbish and makes it difficult to open windows.

In one bedroom it should be fairly easy to get a blackout blind in the recess of each window (there are 3!) But the second bedroom has one large window that is like a bay window but only on one side. I'm assuming I couldn't really use blackout. Blinds in this case

Does anyone have experience of getting rooms properly dark?

We've got black out blinds from the gro company.. just stick on the window with those sucker pad things and you can adjust them to the size of the window. Done the trick for our 2 the last 5 years!

Yes we've got them too but I just feel like they look messy ☹️ thought I'd get something more permanent....

Bloc blinds do blackout blinds that have an edging which blocks all of the light. They make it completely dark and are easy to open in the day. Look quite tidy although you have to fit the plastic edging to the recess of the window.

Or if the windows are uPVC then perfect fit blinds which slide between the glass and the frame could be an option. Wish I knew about these when I was renting!

Thanks I'll look into those!
