Loft conversion on four-hipped roof

Our new home is a 30s detached with a four-hipped roof, so the loft space is essentially a square-based pyramid. We'd love to add a master bedroom with en-suite in the attic one day but I can't work out how to practically extend the roof without massively unbalancing the external look of the house. Has anyone done a loft conversion on a similar property?

I'm in a bungalow with four hipped roof and existing loft conversion. Massive dormer to the read forms the bedroom however the bathroom is at the front with massively restricted head height due to the eves. We're having to try and do a hip to gable extension and a small dormer window at the front to make it into a usable space.

Other bungalows in the area seem to have done single or double hip to gable to achieve the loft conversion

Thank you, that's exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. I really like the hipped roof and definitely don't want it lopsided by a single hip to gable! Looking to see if anyone has any bright ideas. A big rear dormer and smaller front dormer may work though.
