Anyone heard of a fully funded central heating system.

In my house, we don’t have gas and no central heating. We use these electric storage heaters.
However recently, we have received 3 posts from different companies talking about claiming a fully funded central heating system if someone in the household gets some benefits ( one is child benefit which we qualify for).
I know all these companies are just trying to get your business so I won’t enter my details on their website as I don’t know if they are a scam but I just want to know if anyone here has heard of this and benefitted.
Is there a catch ( because it seem too good to be true). Will there be a charge on ones property?
Before we moved to this house, we got quotes for central heating and they were expensive so the thought of having it for free will be brilliant but I’m not sure how true it is.
Any advice appreciated

There's loads of info here which may help www.affordablewarmthscheme.co.uk/first-time-central-heating-grants/

To qualify under the child benefit criteria, you'd also be means tested. If you're not eligible for other benefits you'll be expected to make a contribution, which may be more than getting the work completed without using the scheme.

You say you don't have gas, do you know if your area has a gas supply?

Does the grant cover getting a gas supply to the house if gas is supplied to the area?

Ofgem have some information on first time central heating grants

Thanks for all your help and the link, I’ll read it.
@Orf1abc , We don’t qualify for any of the other means tested benefits so I guess it’s not as simple, just as I thought.
@NewYearNewTwatName, there’s gas supply in the area but all the houses in the street only use electric so that’s an added cost. Initially, we were thinking we’ll wait and get electric central heating when that to becomes more popular.

They'll probably just replace them with newer more efficient electric heaters. That's what happened to elderly fil anyway

If your storage heaters are old, it might be worth having a free upgrade to more efficient ones.

There are also some schemes to bring gas connection s to people but the might work on a neighborhood basis ie if a lot of peotin the same street met a particular eligibility criterion eg lot of elderly. But I don't have direct experience.

Definitely do your own research before agreeing to anything. There might also be an energy advice service (sometimes called things like 'warm and well') in your district so you could find out exactly what scheme s are running and what might be best for you
