LPG for cooker?

The house we are renovating is fuelled by LPG. We are considering leaving it that way.

I've tried to get used to the idea of cooking on induction, but I really want gas.

There's a massive LPG container I. The property for our central heating. Can it be piped to the kitchen for a gas hob?

TIA!

Short answer, yes.

We have oil heating which is much cheaper than LPG and a couple of bottles to run the LPG range - very simple. Did not want to be tied into the LPG supplier rip-off.

@TobyHouseMan do you notice a difference in heat intensity?

No problems noticed with heat output when using LPG bottles.

Oil heating works just as well as GAS (mains or LPG) is is certainly cheaper than LPG heating. Mai s GAS is cheaper if you can get it.

you need the burner jets changed on a stove that runs on LPG ....that may have been the issue with the range that Mummyford had

it's generally simple to do and lots of gas cookers come with the jets as an alternative standard option and others you have to buy but they are not dear.
My delonghi range has been converted and runs beautifully.

Thanks @LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow that's great to know.

I'd rather oil, but the builder reckons it will take years and years to balance out the cost of removing the tank, replacing it with oil tanks, pipes, boiler etc so looks like LPG is staying.

Our cottage (rural Carmarthenshire) is heated by oil but we cook on an LPG hob with no problems whatsoever 😃

It cost approximately £600 about two years ago to convert the gas hob on our Bertazzoni range to LPG, run a line outside and install a pair of whopping LPG cylinders. Admittedly there's only the two of us, but we're still on the first one, so it's pretty economical to run 😉

Our new house is on LPG and we were told it will cost us £50k (Hmm) to have mains gas and the quotes for oil were ridiculous, so we've stuck with LPG.

The cooker was gas, with the LPG piped in through the floor. I didn't like it, the heat was too intense and I felt it ruined my food.
We changed to induction and I really don't like that either. It's just weird and doesn't cook like standard gas cookers do.
