What's your top tip for buying a house in Worthing?

We had put in an offer on our dream flat by the sea only for it to fall through last week. My DH is terminally ill and it's his one wish to live by the sea.
Does anyone have any advice about finding properties that haven't yet hit RightMove/Zoopla? Or know anyone in Worthing who'd be willing to post something on Nextdoor for us, or failing that onto one of the community Facebook groups?
We're looking for a 3+ bedroom house (any type except bungalow) in BN11 (a mile either side of Worthing pier) as close to the sea as possible. It has to have a garden and parking and be in good nick as we can't do any renovations except painting.
Any advice very gratefully received as our two lovely buyers are also gutted.

Sorry to hear that your dream flat fell through
There’s a few active Worthing groups that may be worth you joining on Facebook:

Worthing past and present
Worthing mum and dads
Worthing now and then

Then you can post for yourself?
Maybe worth calling some estate agents too, I don’t live in Worthing but nearby which is why I’m in some of those groups.

Thanks ever so much for those fab suggestions PipsM - I have called 11 estate agents but these groups are super-useful. :)

Also try I Love Worthing group.
What is your budget?
House prices have gone crazy in Worthing!

WorthingWannabe · 20/07/2021 13:41

Hi Wineymummy (love your name!) Yes, they have indeed gone crazy. Our budget is up to £600K as we know we're unlikely to find anything good below that in BN11 (we have realised we need to be in BN11 to be close enough to the sea). Thanks for the I Love Worthing tip - it's so kind of you to let me know about that.

Robert Luff are a very good estate agent, they sold us our house 4 years ago and have just sold it literally overnight without it even going on the market to someone who had just missed out on a similar place. You might be able to get onto their books for advance notice of suitable properties.

A 2nd for Robert Luff, really good local agents who know the area well and have several offices coming Worthing. We sold our house with them last year within a week as they have people 'on their books' looking

Thanks so much - we are on the books of Robert Luff and they have been amazing so far.

Does it have to be Worthing, or would you look at cheaper areas like Lancing?
