Anyone got a washer dryer in a flat ?
Do you need special ventilation?
Plus looking for recommendations on make / brand to buy .
Thanks in advance xx

Washer /Dryers are never great you are better off with separate appliances, otherwise everything just comes out crumpled and they take forever to do a cycle properly.

If they are condenser you don't need ventilation, but agree with pp if you have the space separate appliances are much better. Combined dryers don't work as well and the two I've had were expensive but irreparable within 3-4 years and the dryer was rarely used as they were slow and didn't hold much.

We had 1 in a flat about 10yrs and it was useless. I've seen threads on here, and it seems they still only work well as 1 thing- not both. Our drying function was incredibly slow and would only take 1/4 of the clothes that the washing cycle could take. I'd therefore need to hang the clothes from the washing machine, whilst I tried in vain to dry a select hand full in the machine.

I ended up just putting things on hangers and drying around the flat, on the fold out clothes drying thing or near the dehumidifier.

I disagree. I have one in a flat I rent out and it’s brilliant. I’m using one here in the holiday let I’m in temporarily and it’s brilliant too. While separate machines may be more time efficient if you have minimal space I’d opt for a combo. One’s a Neff ones a Beko so both ends of the scale., I’d opt for cheaper as see no difference in performance.
Oh and one is vented one isn’t, you just have to empty the reservoir.

Can you stack separates? I live in a flat and stack the drier on top of the washer.

For brands I like Zanussi condenser dryers, I've had two, the first I had for 10 years with no problems before I stupidly replaced with an expensive combined AEG when we got the kitchen done and it only lasted 3 years. Now have had a Zanussi again, LINDO300, for 6 years and no problems with it.

They are also very prone to breaking down. My dryer is 20 years old and going strong, I've had 4 washers in that time.

I do! It's an condenser dryer in a washer and it's ok but nowhere near as good as having separates.

We have recently downsized, so we have purchased a washer/dryer, it is really good, no issues with washing or drying, we have Bosch Serie 6 model not cheap, it cost around £1000. But as it’s two machines in one, we thought a cheaper one might not offer performance & reliability.

I wouldn't recommend a washer/dryer my mum got one and wish she never did. The drying setting takes forever and always seems damp!

Iheartmysmart · 20/07/2021 07:38

I’ve also got a combined washer dryer, it’s a John Lewis own brand. Works fine for me, I tend to do a wash early evening, leave it on an airer overnight and finish off in the dryer in the morning. It will quite happily dry a couple of bath towels, hand towel and a bath mat in about 90 minutes though when needed. Only downside is it’s a bit noisy.

My last one was a Hoover bought about 6 years ago. Every time it spun it shook the whole house, to the extent I started to worry about structural damage. I'm in a first floor flat, so it's on a wooden floor.

My new one is a Beko and it's brilliant! It's designed to be quiet for open plan living and I barely hear the spin!!

With any washer dryer, you can't stuff it full for drying. I still air dry most of my things. But they are brilliant to have for emergencies when you really need a couple of things ready quickly or your sheets dry for that evening.

I've got a Samsung washer dryer and it's brilliant
