some parts are missing, small things nothing major - would it really be hard for a fitter to simply make do or go locally for them? Has anyone had things go wrong from DIY and had good service?

In my experience, their customer service team have been quite good. Standard T&Cs give you some time after the order has been delivered to check and get back to them if anything is missing, damaged, etc., i.e. it's not that you have to hastily sign off on the day of delivery and that's it.

Thank you, the while process is driving me mad

I had one wrong door. Replacement sent out promptly and customer service very efficient.
With places like Wren it's not just a 'pop out and get' job either. Really it depends what's missing. Bit of trim if a door they can crack on. Corner unit, not so much!
Very pleased with ours overall

Our kitchen's 2.5 years old and some of the clips that hold the kickboards on have not survived being pulled off and on. It took a phone call I think but they sent 8 replacements for free and very quickly, within a couple of days.

Because everything comes ready made there isn't as much scope for small bits to be missing as you'd think. Eg you could be short of hinges or dowels if you'd bought flat pack, but that is never going to happen when you're buying ready assembled units. All our stuff arrived successfully unlike when we bought from B&Q, and they delayed about a third of the order by a month.

I’d forgotten to order a plinth or end panel (can’t remember) and they sent it out really quickly.

It may depend on whether you’re going for one of their more popular ranges in a standard colour, vs something more unusual in a bespoke colour.

Our problem is also "what" to order eg filling bits to make up gaps in cabinets etc. So if we have forgotten something like that can fitter work around it from other shops

Two, yes that's very true thank you

My chap is in the trade and won’t take jobs where the kitchen was bought from Wickes. Always ill fitting/parts missing. He can work around it but feels it’s always an imperfect fit and finish.

HouseyHouse21 · 20/07/2021 08:18

Call them to go through your order before you put it through. They may be able to point out if there's any bits missing.

TwoLeftElbows · 20/07/2021 08:19

You'd need to get the right filler and end panels from DIY. Anything that's colour matched. You can go through it with a salesperson on the phone and it's their job to try and sell you all the extra bits you hadn't thought of, so it's not something that worried me. But you need to be confident with imagining how it'll work or DIY designing is not for you.

End panels are expensive so even when I was ordering from Wickes I would check whether and why each one was needed. DIY cupboards are all colour matched so the end panels are to some extent optional. Do round up when ordering plinth, cornice etc. It's not as complicated or scary as a kitchen designer would have you think!

Two left, that's really reassuring thank you.
Magnet have a design, it's same as our current kixthen but different styles of cabinet eg drawers rather than cupboard so on that side we are confident, it's the little bit we weren't sure of.

We have an end panel between the end cupboards and tall fridge freezer I questioned that and he said otherwise the cupabrd would be open and exposed to rats etc.
Having said that surely the side of the fridge freezer is it's own end panel?

If FF is freestanding and your units are door colour then yes, an end panel beside it is optional. We just have plinth(? the one at floor level) running round the side of the floor cupboard that butts up to the fridge.

DIY have a video somewhere that talks you through various end panel choices. There's one for islands which I found useful even though we don't have an island.

PickAChew · 20/07/2021 15:55

The side of the fridge freezer won't completely seal it and would certainly leave a more than big enough gap for mice to get into your biscuit stash, or whatever.
