Moving to Surrey with a smallish budget. Is it doable?

Looking to move from kent to Surrey due to DH work. We have a budget of max 500k and that doesn’t seem to give many options! Need a 3 bed preferably 4 but not sure if this is achievable? No idea in the areas to look, we don’t need to commute to London as DH drives to work and isn’t London based. Would love a country side feel and need good primary schools.
Any help would be brilliant Thank you :)

In that case you might want to look along and around A30. Although some areas are exceptionally pricey you still can get 3 bed semis within budget.

Ah, that does take you into an outer London price bracket.

There's quite a nice 4 bed semi in Chertsey: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/89590348#/

A few others in the same price range too.

Addlestone: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/109027508#/

What about Byfield: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/110118116#/

Chobham: www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/90486424#/

Would an apartment in Woking be aceptable? www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/110205188#/

(Byfleet not Byfield btw.)

The traffic is consistently fairly hideous around there so you definitely want to live nearby the one that should be his most frequent commute.

youngestisapsycho · 14/07/2021 22:29

Your should be able to get Shepperton or Sunbury in your budget?

Sunshinegirl82 · 14/07/2021 22:31

Yep, in that case I'd look at Addlestone, Byfleet, RowTown, NewHaw, Chertsey.

There are some areas such as West Byfleet, Weybridge which are nice but you will get much less for your money (they are on the mainline into London).

Sunshinegirl82 · 14/07/2021 22:32

Might be too much of a stretch for your budget and needs some work but could be really nice

Good schools tend to be oversubscribed so if you are applying for reception ensure all your local schools are on your list. As they are merged with London for admissions I think you have spaces for 6 schools.

CatAndHisKit · 15/07/2021 01:58

Sheppertom itself is nice yet not too picey for Surrey. Dont know about schools.

RandomMess · 15/07/2021 06:55

The entrances to Shepperton studios are closer to Laleham and Chertsey tbh (well probably depends on which end of each you live in) so I would consider easy access out to the M25 as well.

Ashford, TW postcode is quite nice & within driving distance to the area's you mentioned, as pp have said, traffic can be pretty heavy, especially during daylight hours, something like this maybe to start your search?
