Privacy blinds?

Does anyone have privacy blinds? Wondering how you find them? Currently have Venetian blinds in our kitchen that are falling apart. We’re having a new kitchen fitted and would like to replace the old blinds but not sure what with. We’re in an old house that’s divided up in an odd set up means that our neighbour can walk right past our kitchen window. Do privacy blinds look ok, keep you private but allow enough light in? Or is there another option??

I have privacy blinds = not sure where they came from but they are like a roman blind but when shut no one can see in . They let light in to the extent I often have to draw the curtains. I think you can get roller blinds similar.

They look nice from the inside,

I would recommend them

Best wishes @nicemarmot

Brilliant thanks. Don’t know anyone in real life with them so was looking to see how people found them. Thank you!

We have them in our hall and they look fine. Ours just looks like a white blind.

Would a patterned window be an idea? (I’m thinking less of a dust/grease catcher in a kitchen. )

I’ve just got some “double” roller blinds from blinds2go. Basically at the front there’s a blackout blind and behind it a blind that lets in light but keeps privacy. I’m very happy with them and they were fairly cheap and made to measure

Blinds2go I would recommend as per @Megmargs I bought a blind for a previous house for a spare bedroom & it worked perfectly ( from them ) Not a modesty blind a basic roman blind but it turned up and did the job very well {you do have to be careful with measurements }

One other thought in a kitchen you can buy something which makes the windows look like they are obscured glass but actually is just something you can put on to the windows - someone who lives on the corner of my road has done this and it looks fine and lets light in (- 90% % they reckon ) so I do not advocate this one particularly but I think you can see what I mean from this activewindowfilms.co.uk/57-white-frosted-privacy-window-film-frost-etched-glass-sticky-back-plastic-vinyl-covering-opal-tint-sold-per-metre.html

I’ve actually also got that privacy film @BasiliskStare mentioned from that company and would recommend that too! Easy to put on once you get the hang of it and looks good. However I did have somebody round to look at replacing my windows and he said that putting film on them can cause heat to get trapped and blow the unit. I haven’t experienced that but thought it worth mentioning.

We have something like this. We got ours from Amazon. Think it was called Rabbit Goo window film. Been on the windows for about 5 years now and no issues at all. So easy to clean too, just wipe over the top!

MotherOfCrocodiles · 14/07/2021 07:06

Another option is a bottom up blind to give you some privacy whilst still letting you see the sky

SquigglePigs · 14/07/2021 07:09

We have privacy blinds on the bedrooms at the front of the house. Just simple roller blinds from Dunelm.

windywally · 14/07/2021 07:11

I bought a privacy blind from John Lewis , just what I wanted , does its job but let's the light it

nicemarmot · 14/07/2021 17:24

Thanks for all the ideas. We’ve already got window film over some of the panes- put in by the previous owner, not sure I want to cover any more panes up. Double roller blind looks good. Bottom up blinds could work too.

I've got white textured "zebra " blinds from blinds2go at my kitchen windows. If we adjust them we can have total privacy even when light are on at night. But the next morning I'm daylight the room is fairly light
They will send various samples so that you can choose the degree of opacity you require
