Sheet vinyl flooring

I need to refresh the flooring in our kitchen. For various complicated reasons, neither tiles nor LVT are an option, and DH won’t consider wood - and frankly, all those things would cost more than we can currently afford given it will be a relatively temporary solution. So, I’m looking at sheet vinyl as the most suitable, cost effective option.

What brands should I be looking at for something really tough? I once had vinyl rip when I needed to pull a dishwasher out over it and I’m keen to avoid that again. Extra points for as convincing a wood effect as possible!

Good question, I want to know as well

Have a look at The Colour Flooring Company. I've had a few samples from them, and really like the look. Plain block colours, so no wood or stone effect stuff.

Sorry, just re read your OP, and realise you want wood effect...

You can put little plastic cups under the feet of appliances to help prevent them damaging flooring, so they slide over it.

Oh! That’s a good tip, @PragmaticWench! Thank you!

We're about to have sheet vinyl in our hallway (also the only option without lots of other work as we have a fairly flexible suspended floor). We're going for Victoria tile effect rather than wood but the advice we've had has been that for kitchens/high traffic you need to look at felt back vinyl not the thin foam stuff but not too get too much overall thickness as if it's too thick (& therefore squishy) you're going to get indents from shoes/furniture etc.

We had vinyl in our old kitchen installed by the developer (badly) and we just had to be very careful moving appliances around but I have to say I don't think many surfaces are 100% safe against damage from that.
