What is this type of canopy/porch/entrance called?

I want to get a few quotes to have something similar to the pictures built but I am only getting results for fully enclosed porches, or grp canopy suppliers

I found these pictures by googling ‘trellis porch’ but I can’t find a tradesperson’s website that does something like this.

I would need the tiled canopy to be made and installed and then the surround made to look a bit like a trellis but decent thick wood.

it looks to me like a rose arbour fixed to the wall next to a doorway.

does it have a roof?

PigletJohn · 12/07/2021 11:32

you can buy a ready-made door canopy from a joinery shop. Usually delivered as unassembled kit. Or a carpenter can make you one for twice the price.

and fit legs or trellis to the sides according to your whim. It will need tiles or slates and gutters if it is to last.

Example

A rose arbour without a roof is ideal for people who are fond or earwigs.

you can see a wider range here

I have no connection with them, it's just the first one I saw.

Thanks all. Yes I want it to have a ‘proper’ roof, tiled etc and just partially enclosed at the sides with trellis style screening, instead of just having the canopy looking plonked on.

Thanks for the links.

Also, earwigs??😣

They fall off the plants.

One of our neighbours got one of these a few years ago, very thick looking wood- not sure what happened, but the wood looks very "mouldy" now. All discoloured from the bottom upwards.

might have been rain falling or splashing on the lower legs.

unlike fences, solid posts do not dry out as soon as the sun shines, so parts of them can absorb and harbour damp.

wood that is buried or in contact with the ground is liable to have a patch where the ratio of air to water is ideal for insect and fungal life, so usually rots and snaps about 6-12 inches above the ground.

Surface stain does not prevent water absorbtion from the ground.

and dogs, of course.

I think that kind of porch is called a Storm Porch.

Thefirsttime · 13/07/2021 16:30

I also think it is called a storm porch. Think I learnt that in the dim distant past from some estate agent particulars.
