Mix and match kitchen dilemma

Help please! Not sure how to go about this and scared of making a completely wrong decision.
We’re moving into a flat that has a recently fitted new kitchen. The flat is empty and it isn’t possible to discover details of where the kitchen was bought from. The kitchen is small, the base units are adequate but there are only 2 wall units. We have quite a limited budget, so can’t afford to replace the whole kitchen - particularly since there is nothing actually wrong with it, but I will definitely need more wall units.
I absolutely love the navy kitchens that are around at the moment and quite like the ‘mix and match’ look too.
So, the current base units are white. I’ve found some beautiful navy high gloss wall units that I adore and, since I can’t actually match up the exact units anyway, I had thought of just doing all the wall units in navy and leaving the base units white. However, in all the images I’ve found online of mix and match kitchens, it’s the base units that are coloured and the wall units that are white.
Is it completely crazy to stick with my plan? Does anyone out there have white base units and coloured wall units? In my head it seems as though it would look okay, can anyone tell me why it won’t?

Dark wall cabinets could be claustrophobic in a small kitchen.

I think very dark wall units would probably make the kitchen feel top heavy, especially in a small space. There’s a reason that top units are usually the ones in lighter/brighter shades or with glass doors, it creates a feeling of space.

I think as a one-off feature (eg a tall pantry cupboard all in navy it could possibly look ok but I’d avoid a whole row of cabinets. Would it cost too much to just put new doors on the existing cabinets? Paint them? Or use the navy doors for the base cabinets and put the white ones on wall cabinets?

If the kitchen is new have you checked inside the cupboards to find a make/brand? Or if not post a picture on here or some other social media and I'm sure you'll find it, I doubt it's bespoke or unique, far more likely to be something readily available that lots of people will recognise - that way you could easily add matching cupboards and swap the doors to different colours if you want to.

I would move in and familiarise yourself with the kitchen before deciding what extra cupboards you need, in the meantime you may find clues inside the cupboards as to the manufacturer. We did this and added units once we discovered we had a Magnet kitchen
