Contemporary tiles for a 70s house

We are redoing our downstairs hallway and cloakroom & adding a downstairs shower room. We’re looking for floor tiles for the whole area as well as wall tiles for the cloakroom/shower room. The wall tiles could be the same as the floor tiles but will probably end up different as I want to incorporate some kind of feature/pattern which I want to be sympathetic to the 70s design (we have an open tread wooden staircase in the same area) - I quite like terrazzo but looking for any other ideas if anyone fancies helping inspire me?!

How about hexagonal tiles? Look up Apini from Topps Tiles. They also do various hexagonal mosaics. You could use the same tiles throughout but in different colours to create the feature you're after, or use a mixture of large and small tiles. I also really love fan shaped tiles and I think that would work well in a 70s house. Look up Topps Tiles Syren, though they may only be wall tiles.

I don't work for Topps, by the way! Just happened to be the first website I looked at.

Have you been on Houzz? You might be able to get more advice there.

Absolutely to terrazzo - it will look fab!

PP mentioned hexagons - I'm actually planning to use hex mosaic for our bathroom (Victorian). I think they have a more period look. You go get terrazzo, it will look fab in a 70s style house (or mid century).

Or encaustic?

Cement encaustic with sealant looks amazing but is more vulnerable to stain and damage. Printed porcelain encaustic is easier maintenance.
