Would you recommend this? Is the water really hot? How much. Comments please. Thank you

Lots of threads on this. I have one, I love it. The water is definitely boiling hot. I now rent out that property for last three years and they've never had an issue with it. Definitely getting it in my next kitchen.

Imcatmum · 08/07/2021 22:53

I recommend it as highly as anything we put in the house. You can't believe how you lived without it once you get one.

Ylvamoon · 08/07/2021 22:55

Go for it! I had mine fitted 4 months ago - don't know how I ever managed without it.

Absolutely love ours. Even DH who was scathing about “another gadget” is now converted. He suggested we should have also put one in the utility room!

Wimpeyspread · 09/07/2021 13:12

I have just bought a house with one - i find it impossible to make drinkable tea with it, although it does appear to be boiling. Will go back to my kettle

LODReturn · 09/07/2021 13:40

I have one and it's fab. Gutted to be moving and leaving it behind. May have to investigate getting one in the new house!

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 09/07/2021 14:43

Generally speaking, while there will of course be exceptions, people who have Quookers (me included) absolutely love them. I'd never go back to a kettle. Definitely really boiling and makes excellent tea.

People who have other brands of hot tap are more split - some big fans, others very much not.

People who have only ever used the sort of hot tap that gets fitted into offices, which are rubbish, tend to assume that all hot taps are the same and therefore all awful. This generally goes hand in hand with using the terms 'Quooker' and 'hot water tap' interchangeably.

FurierTransform · 09/07/2021 17:36

The main problem with them as far as I can see is the price. For what you're actually buying (a tap and a cylinder with an immersion heater in it) they are a total utter ripoff, even by kitchen standards. It's like a Dyson gadget X5.

You can get a Quooker tap that cost over £2k just in parts... That's more than a 4 room /full house air conditioning system costs!

BasiliskStare · 09/07/2021 18:27

@tadpole73 - do search the threads - this is such an often asked question

I would have a Quooker any day of the week - some would not or those who have something which is not an actual boiling water tap don't like those.

Good luck whatever you choose

TableNiner · 09/07/2021 18:41

Definitely hot enough. I love mine (four years in) but it’s a real luxury item

tadpole73 · 09/07/2021 21:09

Wow thanks for all of your replies, really helpful thank you

We’re thinking of a Quooker. Is it any good with porcelain / ceramic sinks?

coffeequeenindevon · 10/07/2021 09:56

Love ours. Currently between houses and living with family who don’t have one. Having had one for a couple of years, it is remarkably infuriating going back to waiting for water to boil to cook pasta, boil eggs etc..!

BasiliskStare · 10/07/2021 18:00

@Ozanj - I n my opinion it works well

We’ve got the £2k quooker but it does fizzy water and has the flex hose so is far more than just a hot water tap

In comparison, we are currently looking at quotes to get air con in 4 bedrooms and the quotes are circa £5-8k..!

VenusClapTrap · 10/07/2021 19:09

SIL has one and it makes the tea taste funny, so I would never buy one myself. And yes it is an actual Quooker, not another brand. She loves it though, so it’s horses for courses.
