Patio stencils

We have those horrid 600mm square, grey, standard slabs and they look awful. The area is approx 3' square. I'd really like to try stencilling it but I'm wondering if it's very hard-wearing or if the paint will wear off in a few months. Has anyone had theirs done?

I've read loads of articles about the stencilling. Ones I've read are use a proper paint that's like a floor or masonry paint and seal it. Depends though on how high the traffic area is as some have to redo it every few years.

I think the key is priming them or using some sort of bonding agent before the masonry paint to prevent peeling or chipping. I have seen several videos on YouTube of people doing it on whole patios or creating a rug.

Also people paint their concrete steps too, also on YouTube. I think there is a big push for people using dizzyduckdesigns.com/ stencils as they seem to be everywhere. I think on Instagram too.

I am looking to do it later this year, I will be using Zinsser BIN to prime the paving after powerwashing them.

I just gave it a good sweep and a hose down and used masonry paint. Looks ok. I did it just after Christmas from memory and it still looks as good as it did when it first went down but it's not exactly high traffic as we have a sofa over most of it and it's just under the square of the gazebo.
