Kitchen redesign - built in combination microwave or not?

Just looking for advice re appliances for our new kitchen that will be installed next month

The original design included a single oven and a built in combination oven above. We discounted this option due to the extra expense and that I have previously had a freestanding combination microwave, but not made full use of it. We decided to go for a built in double oven instead and keep our existing microwave, which is in the adjacent utility room.

We are currently in the process of ordering the appliances and before purchasing a double oven, wanted to have views on if having a single oven with a built in combination oven above would be a better investment. Those of you who have this set up, do you think it is more useful than having a double oven? Having looked in stores now the second oven in a double oven does appear rather small, so may not get a lot of use. Having a double oven and keeping the freestanding microwave would be a cheaper option though

We had a built in combi microwave when we moved into this house, I got rid when we redid the kitchen. It was only ever used as a normal microwave and it was high up which I found a total pain when taking out plates that were hot and the kids couldn’t reach it/use it safely. I’d never have one again. Just have a freestanding one now.

I have a Bosch 900mm freestanding oven and put a Bosch combo microwave/oven in the scullery. We nearly didn’t do the second scullery oven but I’m so pleased I did. I use it constantly for smaller meals and do most of my baking in it also. I barely used the old standalone microwave but this one gets more use than the main oven.

I have 2 ovens and a very expensive combi microwave. I don’t have a clue how to use it. I only ever use it to reheat things. Complete waste of money.

When we redid the kitchen in our holiday home I went for 2 ovens instead and ditched the combi.

@bettybyebye what brand/model of single oven & combi oven did you go for - I'm really struggling to find any combis where people have said the microwave function is any good (we use our microwave a lot so this would be a deal breaker!). Thank you!!
