Hi All,
I am looking for advice/information from anyone who has experience of having either Pilkington Activ Blue or Activ Sunshade Blue glass used for a conservatory roof.
We are planning to have the timber frame, windows, door and roof replaced on our current conservatory for UPVC (dwarf wall and floor to remain).
The big idea is that with a glass roof we will be able to let a lot more light into the conservatory and joining lounge which suffers from being dark most of the day (south facing).
I have looked at the technical specifications of both types. Both combine self-cleaning and with solar control properties: Activ blue = medium solar control, Activ Sunshade Blue = superior solar control.
The Sunshade tech. spec shows that it blocks more light than the Activ Blue and reflects more direct sunlight.
This makes sense but I would like to know what it means in real terms from people who have had either fitted. I have seen a sample of the Activ Blue but not the sunshade and, due to injury, I can't get to a showroom to view the Sunshade (not that it will reflect exactly what it would be like in my property).
The other consideration is which one will help to maintain warmth in the winter months. I think the Sunshade possibly will. I have to weigh all the factors up in terms of not blocking too much light, versus it being too hot in the summer, versus some heat control in the winter.
All advice is welcomed. Thank you.
