Property market in your area

Hi,
We are thinking about putting our house on the market and buying in a new area. The property market seems to have been red hot recently but seems to be cooling a bit locally. There don't seem to be many houses for sale though. Is it still on fire in your local area or cooling off? Any recent selling/ buying experiences?

South Manchester (Hale/Altrincham) and the property market is still going bonkers. My DD has just paid 59k over the asking price for a 2 bed terraced. It went to best and final bids. Previously she had bid on (and lost 3 other properties). There is literally nothing on the market right now and the houses in her price bracket (350k ish) are all being snapped up by overseas cash buyers. According to her estate agents they are Chinese investors.
Last year on Rightmove there were 1000 properties for sale, today in a similar search there are just 550.

Selling in Cornwall . 20 mins walk to the most amazing beach . Train station also in walking distance which is a bonus for Cornwall . Similar properties selling for similar price but taking several weeks. In 2 weeks have had 3 viewing and a very low offer . Not what we expected . Hey ho.

@Cheeseismymiddlename yes, it’s odd. I feel like it’s def slowed in parts of the West Country. I do wonder whether lots of people thought they were going to wfh down here and then got a reality check from their bosses. Hope you sell soon.

My Mum put her house on the market this week, had first viewing this morning and they offered full asking price within an hour of viewing( this is seaside town in East Devon)

I think things are definitely slowing had an email yesterday from an agent for a house we viewed last week asking for best and final by 12pm Monday. I emailed back saying we were no longer interested as we had an offer accepted. He seemed a little shocked that we had found, viewed and had an offer accepted in the time he had been going through this the vendor won't make any decisions till 2/7.

I think he may have though we were a sure thing and now he is left with a client who is a bit unhappy. We had made an offer at asking price and he had indicated that the only other offer was beneath asking price.
The way some of the agents have been behaving has been ridiculous though. We are cash buyers with a large budget, but we have complex work lives and have very narrow windows to view together. Some agents 'felt it was too much hassle for us to view individually'. I really began to believe they didn't really want to sell to the best advantage.

I live in Surrey. Not sure what the property market is like in my area but I can't imagine it looks good. I may visit right move tonight in bed to see what is happening in my area to properties.

Our second home went on this morning and there are 7 viewings this afternoon. I think it’s because it’s a compact 3 bed house with a downstairs toilet and 2 parking spaces. Also just 2 roads away from the posh expensive area and in a coveted secondary school catchment area.

Ps we aren’t rich by the way! Only got 2 houses because of remarriage/ combining assets.
