Laminate in kitchen?

Would love to hear experiences. We want something hard wearing that we can mop and move chairs on etc without it marking. I had laminate in a previous house but it was cheap stuff installed by the previous owner which was subsequently warped by a couple of washer leaks. The alternative is vinyl but that seems to be available in fewer choices and is much more expensive. Tiles aren't an option. Thanks in advance

Had a range of worktops. In our current house we have what I presume is quartz - or something similar. I like it but it's a bit porous so prone to staining.

In our last house we had wood (never, ever, ever again) which we replaced with laminate. The kitchen was done by b and q about 6 years ago and all looks as good as new including the worktops (apart from the sink which was my fault).

The beauty of laminate is that it's cheap to replace if you do get any issues with it.

Thank you for replying. I should have been clear, it's laminate flooring. We've gone for a granite worktop.

Karndean LVT- we've had it 5yrs and it still looks great. You can save a fortune by buying it online and getting an independent floorer to fit it- getting it all through a flooring shop is £££££!

I have laminate throughout my kitchen diner and it is brilliant. So hard wearing, takes a real battering and still looks brand new when mopped. I wanted one that looked the closest to real wood so really shopped around for a good one as some can look very cheap. Mine is by Balterio.

It's amazing! So forgiving, warm underfoot, easy to clean. Just brilliant. Make sure you get a very good waterproof one though.

We have good quality laminate in the kitchen. It’s been down 13 years and looks great. There are a couple of minor scratches and a little bit of water damage where we had a tub of iced water with drinks at a party and it leaked quite a lot, but you’d only see any of these if you really looked hard.

Have a look at Quickstep Impressive waterproof laminate.

Thanks all, really useful. To add to the decision making, went to Wickes earlier and they had some gorgeous LTV which wasn't on their website

We have LVT and we’re about to replace it with laminate. We’ve had a lot of issues with the LVT - warping, shrinkage etc. A joiner laid it for us a few years ago. Ours is decent stuff but I don’t think it was laid very well. I prefer the look of laminate anyway so that’s what we’re going for this time.
