Neighbours Gas Pipes/Flue

I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice please? My nextdoor neighbours are having a new gas central hearing system fitted (they are tenants, landlord is responsible for the work). With the old heating system there was one narrow gas pipe attached to their house, but over my driveway, which I was not particularly happy about as I was not sure this was safe. I arrived home yesterday to find a flue had been installed high up over my driveway. Also the gas pipe had been extended to protrude further onto my driveway plus some sort of lagged piping. All of this looks to be of a poor standard of workmanship and looks tatty. Also the pipes will be in the way of a gate post for gates i am having installed accross the driveway. This all seems really out of order, what can I do?

Very hard to picture to be honest OP. Can you post a pic? Flues are safe as only steam comes out as long as it's working properly and there is specific measurements for them to be compliant.

You own the air above your land so you can require them to move them.

Do you have the owners contact details? If not I'd speak with the tenants and/or contractor this morning and say they have to stop, they can't install anything into the space above your property. Your property includes the space directly above and they can't impinge on it.

😒sadly it is installed now. It is a housing association house.

I'm thinking of taking down what has been installed and refusing to let them back on my property... does this seem reasonable do you think?

Nothing is allowed to overhang your property.

It is unlikely that a housing association have installed anything dangerous though.

I would send photos plus a copy of your title deed plan to the HA, tell them that the flues / pipe overhang and encroach on to your property, that you do not give permission and that you want them to remove it immediately.

Do not remove it yourself.

Really, do not remove a boiler flu yourself.

Insisting that it is removed by them is one thing. Removing a boiler flu that could result in Carbon Monoxide blowing back into the house and potentially killing people is another!
