Moving home

Hello

My husband has recently got a new job near Daresbury (Cheshire) and we are looking to move from where we live. The reason for our move is that our area is fast becoming a council estate (100+ new council houses about to be built) and so it has started to become rough around here. Crime rate going up, youths hanging around parks and toepaths smoking weed and stuff, people having a shouting match at 2am in the morning etc.

Our max budget is 280k, maybe able to push it to 300k but unsure if we would be able to secure that much mortgage. Looking for 3+ bed semi or detached.

Could you people suggest areas around Daresbury which are good to move to considering our budget and schools (we have two kids 7 and 3) and avoiding any areas the likes of we are living in currently. My husband doesn't mind commuting to work up to 30/40 minutes and I would also start looking for work nearby but I can also commute/drive.

Also I would like to know what people usually do when they move homes? If the transaction involves no chain, do people temporarily move to a rental house after selling theirs and before buying a new home? We don't have a family member who can take us in for a few weeks until we sort out our home so I am looking for ideas/options.

Thank you.

I dont know the area but with moving I've done both. I sold and bought at the same time but I was the only one in a chain. I've also sold, rented and I am now looking to buy.

Can't help you with the area, but moving homes with or without a chain normally means everyone is coordinated to leave one house and move into the new on the same day. Renting in between would be outside the norm.

Do you want a town, village, rural??
Your main options for a town would be Warrington, Northwich or Runcorn. Knutsford is probably just within 30-40minutes drive at rush hour. Your budget will buy you a lot of house in some parts of those towns but won't stretch to the really nice areas such as Stockton Heath.
I wouldn't go north of Warrington because the traffic going round / across it at rush hour is horrendous and whilst it's pushing your commute time to the max, if not more, your budget won't get what you want in Altrincham/ South Manchester.
I don't know the areas that well but my gut instinct is that Northwich might be your best starting point.
I'd start researching schools and do some broad searches on right move to see what sort of thing is available then book a weekend to go and visit and do lots of driving and walking round areas before you even start to book house viewings.
