Can it go in the garden?
Flower beds?
Dribble it out of trouser legs like in Great Escape

Well obviously you build yourself a sand put. Don't even tell me you wouldn't enjoy it, you surely would.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 23/06/2021 21:12

Soft sand or sharp sand?

thefirstmrsrochester · 23/06/2021 21:19

If it’s a decent amount, stick it on a local free cycle page, it will be taken off your hands in no time.

Have a beach party!

NoTruckWithFrontedAdverbials · 23/06/2021 21:58

Well you lot are no help!

I was thinking more plants/lawn etc.

Make a pizza oven (other components are required)..

HasaDigaEebowai · 23/06/2021 22:01

You could scatter it on the lawn if you wanted to or if you have holes to fill. Likewise you could dig it into your beds if you wanted to.

MrsApplepants · 23/06/2021 22:03

I also think beach party. Designate a section of the garden for a beach scene and add cocktails and inflatables. Voila!!

Yubaba · 23/06/2021 22:03

Grow carrots in it!

VodkaSlimline · 23/06/2021 22:35

Fill sandbags to hold down a gazebo/trampoline?

Gladioli23 · 23/06/2021 22:42

Mix it with soil to loosen it and plant things that like poor well draining soil in it? Sand is essential for cactus planting and if you have heavy clay soil I think it helps things like Lavender.

crapbuttrue · 23/06/2021 22:49

If it's orangey builders sand it'll make your soil more alkaline. Keep it away from acid lovers (Rhododendrons etc)

Phoenix76 · 23/06/2021 22:51

@VeniVidiWeeWee

Soft sand or sharp sand?
Good question, I automatically read it as being soft because op wrote builders sand and my brain saw building sand meaning it was soft 😂

How much have you got op? In some areas aggregates are hard to source so if you have a fair amount it could be worth selling on.

PainterInPeril · 23/06/2021 23:14

@NoTruckWithFrontedAdverbials Just out of curiosity, why would you want to dribble it down your trousers in the first place?!Grin Sounds uncomfortable! How much of it do you have?

HasaDigaEebowai · 24/06/2021 06:42

The trousers are a reference to “The Great Escape”

NoTruckWithFrontedAdverbials · 24/06/2021 13:19

soft sand I think (soft to the touch - like a sandy beach, not like a pebbly beach).

will start filling in lawn gaps.

guess I need to find out which plants like alkaline soil and distribute it round them!

for those of you who don't know it, it's an absolutely amazing film - so different from modern films - and ages really well.
recommend watching all the way through but the trouser bit is epic.

Be very careful putting it on your lawn, some builders sand binds as it's to hold things together, these means that you can cause compaction and poor drainage in your lawn. Exactly the opposite of what you want to do.
