Hi, I’m looking to relocate to Worcester/Worcester area and don’t know the area at all! I’m hoping all you loving ladies can help! I’m looking for a nice quiet location preferably nearish town or has good transport links into town. Any help is greatly appreciated

We moved to Droitwich 3 years ago and love it. It's a 15min drive into Worcester or we can get the bus or train

We've just had an offer accepted on a house in Malvern. It is beautiful there and we are relocating from Bedfordshire.

BirdsandBeesmakinghay · 22/06/2021 21:06

I used to live close by. I would recommend some of the villages around f Worcester rather than the town itself, but it depends how much time you want to spend commuting and what lifestyle you want. I lived near Pershore and worked in Droitwich. Pershore and villages around are lovely. Malvern is also great. It’s a lovely area. Both Pershore and Malvern both have train stations which is useful.

kookiekook · 22/06/2021 22:49

Malvern all the way.

I'm biased maybe but having lived in Bromsgrove and Kidderminster I find the people friendlier here and the place has such a good feel to it!

Peachee · 22/06/2021 22:56

Claines is really nice and so is fernhill heath.. I agree Droitwich is nice and if you want a new build suburb then wanrdon villages is good ..
I would avoid war don villages, tolladine road I’ve heard isn’t great.. hope I don’t offend anyone.
Worcester is pretty decent and Droitwich/Malvern is too.. xx

Peachee · 22/06/2021 22:56

Warndon villages is nice..
Avoid warndon itself.. sorry that was confusing x

prettyvisitor · 22/06/2021 23:01

I'd go with malvern too!

senua · 22/06/2021 23:01

don’t know the area at all!
Think about river-crossings (or, rather, lack of) for the Severn and the Teme. Think about flood risk.
Having said that, it's a beautiful county. You will love it.

BirdsandBeesmakinghay · 22/06/2021 23:17

Agree that Malvern is much nicer than Worcester. Also Worcester floods A LOT.
We had neighbours who moved from Warndon villages. They hated it.

Heyha · 22/06/2021 23:26

I'm not on Worcestershire itself but am nearby...would agree the villages are the best bet. The larger towns in the north of the county aren't great, Redditch has a better range of shops/amenities than Bromsgrove or Droitwich (I don't know about Kidderminster) so you'd maybe want to focus on Worcester itself for your town centre needs. I get the feeling the rail links aren't brilliant either but I couldn't say why, worth checking if you're going to be needing that. Malvern and the surrounding are beautiful. I don't know south Worcs at all but as others have said watch out for the rivers and bridges, the traffic around Malvern for example has been horrendous for a lot of the last ten years as they seem to keep faffing about with the same road, very slowly.

VVKills27 · 22/06/2021 23:32

I live just outside of Worcester city centre in the Battenhall area. It’s a short walk to town & there are some really lovely houses. We moved here 8 years ago & never plan to leave, you couldn’t live in a better place - it has everything you need & great amenities such as a beautiful library & lovely areas for families. Good luck with your move!!

Magstermay · 22/06/2021 23:58

So do you want to be in Worcester itself? Claines/ Barbourne/ Northwick areas are nice and Battenhall as mentioned but it depends a bit on budget and whether you need school catchments.
Surrounding towns and villages also nice but as others have said the river crossings can be restrictive depending where you are working.

Shadowboy · 23/06/2021 07:46

Which side of the river do you need to get to ? That can help with deciding where to live as they haven’t finished the new bridge yet so traffic is stick slow over the two bridges. Holt fleet can also be slow if you decide to go for Droitwich or ombersley.

Worcester and Worcestershire is a lovely place but think carefully about where you need to work as 100,000 people in Worcester and only 2 bridges to get to one or other side of the city.

Thanks everyone this is so helpful

Malvern is beautiful.
Does it have to be Worcestershire? Would urge you to look over the border at Herefordshire, too. England’s most beautiful county, imhumbleo.

CMOTDibbler · 24/06/2021 09:59

The really big consideration for me is where you will need to be for work because of the bridge and flooding consideration. I live 7 miles from Worcester, and ds used to go to school in N Worcester, no problem at all. But we used to go riding on the other side of the river, and the traffic that way (Carrington bridge has now been doubled though) was awful even at the weekends.
I love the area though

Peachee · 25/06/2021 22:18

Hallow and ombersley also nice 👍🏻

britespark1 · 25/06/2021 22:53

Hartlebury is lovely
