Oak front door - pros and cons

We are considering an oak front door as they look lovely. However I don't know if they would expand and contract with the seasons and be difficult to open and close? Can anyone advise? I have trouble with my grip so not sure if a composite door would be easier to manage?

Many thanks

@morningporridge
As long as it's made correctly and finished correctly then there is no reason an oak door would be any problem.
With regards to your grip - I would think about the door hardware (handles / pulls/ locks) rather than the door material
I tend to find traditional locks that are used in timber are easier to use, than multipoint systems used in upvc/composite, with my arthritis but that may not be the case for you.
Oak will need maintenance over time but you can pay somebody to do this if it's tricky for you and it's not that regular depending on what finish you go for.
All locking systems benefit from oil every now and then.

We have one already in the house when we bought it. Looked really lovely, now we realise it was a mix of oak veneer and solid. It wasn’t correctly prepared and treated when installed and now the solid bits have darkened and the veneered bits are lifting. We’re about the replace it with a composite door. Shame really.
Oak is lovely, so if you choose it make sure it’s correctly treated.
