Wood burner issue

mrboingboing · 22/06/2021 00:24

I've recently moved into a house with a multi fuel stove fitted. I've used it twice so far. Both times I've had to leave the door open to stop it he fire raging fiercely. Opposite to what I expected!

I've closed the damper I think but there still seems to be loads of air rushing through fanning the fire.

Im burning well seasoned logs.

Any ideas?

There may be more than 1 outlet that is letting in air - I have a multifuel stove, & this has a damper on bottom (a ring/dome) & another on the side

Try to find your stove model & instructions online

Is there any soot appearing by edge of window?

If you're closing it down and it's still roaring then it's got an air leak somewhere. As in air being drawn in.

Check rope seals around glass, door, anywhere there's rope 👍🏻

That is also sound advice above.

Stoves will normally have 2 dampers.

What stove is it?

Has it been swept and serviced recently?
