When do we pack?

House sold mid May and we have answered all the enquiries. We haven’t been contacted for a survey yet. Maybe they are getting a desktop one?
They have applied for searches.
Chain is just us and we will be renting, our buyer and their buyer who is FTB who has completed all their searches and enquiries.

Searches should be quick. I used to work for search company and aware that they take around 3 days normally for local around here. Right now with covid, about 5 working days. Searches will be clear of issues as we only has ours a few years ago and nothing has changed.

When on earth do we start packing? We’ve decluttered and filled a skip and had it removed. Everything left is to go with us.
We’ve not secured a rental yet because we’ve no idea when exchange be.

I just worry that all of a sudden they will be ready and we have nowhere to go and haven’t packed!

Stressed!

You have a say in the moving date too, not just the buyers. Don't panic, but if you want to organise your belongings, start packing things you won't need for a while. Winter clothing, excess cutlery and crockery etc.

I didn't start until.i had a moving date. I had decluttered loads before I put the house on the market. I also used a packing service so really only packed stuff I needed for the few weeks between moves as the rest went in storage.

Start now. Get your boxes and start packing books, pictures, ornaments, kitchen stuff you rarely use, out of season clothes etc. Stack them in the garage or in the corners of rooms. Much less stressful to do a box a day or a few boxes every weekend rather than leave it all until the last minute.

Label the boxes properly so that you can locate things just in case it drags on for longer than you expect.

Get your loft and garage packed up first as they always take longest. Then go through your kitchen and pack any stuff that you don't use regularly - I found loads of baking equipment I'd forgotten about (which does beg the question why didn't I just get rid of it as I hadn't used it for ages but there you go Grin). Kids wardrobes, books. Put a list of contents on each box - makes it much easier at the other end when deciding whether it can go straight in the loft.

Thanks. I am very very organised. It helps me feel in control! So liking the suggestions to start now. The attic is packed up ready. Just ordered more boxes for the things I have laying around that we don’t use that often.

My dh is so relaxed and moved so many times, he keeps saying it’s too soon.
House is decluttered completely. I did that before we put the house on the market. What we have now will be going with us.

Thanks all
