Can I have these doors in a modern house?

I have always really really loved a certain style of door (will attach pic). However they are found in period houses, and we live in a 20 year old house in a cul de sac. We are in process of planning lots of house improvements and we originally planned the oak cottage style door but I do really love this type. Would they look daft being in a more modern house?

it's a 1930's style

but in your own house you can have whatever you want.

I think that style will translate very well to a modern house.

I think they would look nice in a modern house. I have a 1930s house and it's my dream to replace my doors with that style

Plenty of people 'modernise' older houses, so no reason why you shouldn't do the opposite.

We live in a 1930s house and our doors are similar, except for the top panel which is curved. Many on our road have been modernised, but I'm pleased we still have some original features.

If you like them, have them.

They look like nice doors to me. They will look good in any home, modern or period.

You put what you want in your own home. If those are the doors you want go for it.

Absolutely you can. I have almost exactly that in my 1970s-built house and it looks lovely. It's a classic.

Thank you all! That’s my decision made much easier Smile

Your house, have what makes you happy! Ours is a 1920s house, but a lot of the original features have gone anyway and the house reconfigured, so restoring them is not an option, and we're not fans of 1920s design anyway, so will have whatever we like- this is our forever house so we don't have to look over our shoulders at possible buyers. I'm currently fancying doing one room in deep red with a painted and gilded border, a sort of 'Victorian Gothic Library' style. A house agent's nightmare. Grin

A modern house can still be very traditional, I think the word ‘modern’ can be misleading, it’s not the age of the house that dictates the style necessarily but the style in which they are built, many brand new houses in my town have been built in a heritage style so suit classic doors and furnishings etc. but even if your house does not fit that brief, I agree with Bluemongoose it’s your house have exactly what you want, the doors you have picked are lovely.

Another vote for yes you can have them in a modern house. I love them
