Over watering - coming through the border

The house that backs onto us has had some new turf put in and they're watering it but they've left the sprinkler on so long that their garden has started to flood (as the ground cannot take any more water) and the water is coming through to the back of our garden.
We're worried about the stuff we have at the back of the garden (a child's play tower /swing and shed) as these look to be sinking into the ground already! We've asked for the sprinkler to be turned off/only put on for short bursts but we've got nowhere, apparently the turf will die if it's not watered constantly!
If it does impact our property, what rights do we have? It's taken ages to dry even in this hot weather so it's going to be wet/damp for a while.

No useful advice but good grief! That would drive me up the wall.

I am guessing that you have newish houses on a heavy clay soil, perhaps around London or Bedfordshire, and you are downhill of your neighbour.

if the neighbours are applying water beyond the run-off point, it is wasted, so they are applying too much.

it probably won't do any real damage.

If you are fond of gardening you can dig a trench near the line of the fence. Water will run into it and (especially if you fork up the bottom) have more chance to soak into the ground.

Thank you! Good to hear it is not likely to do any real damage.
