How would you use this living space? (Slightly awkward layout)

Can't change the layout of downstairs for a good few years, just wondering where you would put the sofas etc? Underneath the stairs there is a cupboard which is open with no door, not sure what the seller called the space.

The window in the living room area is a very big floor to ceiling window so not sure how having a TV unit or sofa there would look or how practical it would be with small children.

Any responses welcomed! Just trying to visualise the space.

Do you have a fireplace or equivalent?

Slightly tricky space isn’t it? Although it looks like it’ll be lovely and light in there.
Ideally what furniture would you want in there? Sofa/ tv/dining table? Anything else?

TV under the stairs so it's shaded from the sun? Then sofa opposite it, and other either in the window, or half way across room (bit more than half way...) Facing window?
Dining table the end of large room by kitchen.

I would put a table outside the door of the kitchen.
Can you put TV on a wall to save space?

Snap, I'm buying one of these but a bit smaller. I'm not sure how to manage it either. My kitchen is longer and goes into the porch space.

I've been googling 'small living dining rooms' and that's come up with some good decorating ideas.

Sorry I'm not more help, this really isn't my thing. FWIW I've got as far as using a rug to demarcate the living from dining room. Grin

If it was a nice big space under the stairs I'd put a desk in there. Ours is tiny and full of boiler.

Assuming you will put the table in the area near the kitchen, I would make the area under the stairs a kids toy/play area (if you want an area for this). I think I would put a sofa across the wall with the door on it, and another smaller sofa or armchair across the room so it is blocking off the dining area and the kids toy area slightly (but leave at leave 1.5metres to be able to walk through freely and to give a sense of space). I would then put the TV unit next to the window opposite the door.

I think id put the tv under the staits with a corner sofa oppposite. I cant quite envisage the understairsthough.

Id possibly very contoversially put a dining table in the front window!

Then put some toy storage and a rug in the bit that is clearly meant to be a dining bit, so you can see the children when in the kitchen and they can get in and out to tge garden.

Yes the dining table in front of the living room window might be a good idea, then an L shaped sofa marking out the living room area facing the French doors, and the TV on the wall. Area by the under-stairs cupboard for toys and playing depending on the ages of your children.

This is almost the same layout as downstairs. I have one sofa in front of the big window as you come in the door and the other sofa in front of the bit that is open under your stairs. My tv is on the opposite wall.
I then have my dining table at the other end.
I couldn’t do it in mine but I like the idea of the PP who said about putting the tv under the stairs and having a corner sofa. Or even if you have one sofa along that wall and one in front of the window. I felt odd putting a piece of furniture in front of the window but as it is so big it works fine as I still get lots of light from the top and also there is another window at the other end of the room.
