Air con and black out blind.

So my baby’s room is south facing and gets sooo hot. We brought an aircon unit to go in their but the tube has to go out the window. The problem is, he doesn’t sleep if it’s light so we have a blackout blind that Velcro’s to the window frame. It’s this one

Which isn’t fire resistant.

Any ideas how I can use both and be safe?

Don’t use aircon in your baby’s room? DD’s bedroom is south facing and I just keep the curtains closed, windows open with a fan on.

Dress him in a light layer and don’t put a blanket on. Once the evening chills he’ll freeze with aircon!

Use the air on to cool the room before you put him to bed and then turn it off for the night. You don't want to leave it on overnight or he will get too cold

The trick is to keep the heat out in the hottest part of the day by closing the windows to keep warm air out and keeping the black out blind closed. I live in a hot country and only run aircon overnight when it is well above 30. I just keep the house cool during the day and open it up to get cool evening breeze if we get one.

Thank you guys. So I keep his room shut in the day with blackout blinds covering the room and it’s still about 28in the evening. It just doesn’t cool down.

Unfortunately he won’t sleep without a sleeping bag so he is in the thinnest one he has with nothing underneath.

And we’re running the aircon in the day.

Thank you for your help

Can you attach the hose to a vent fitted through the wall instead of putting it out of the window -you know, like for a vented dryer?
