Is it normal to not be contacted if offer was not accepted?

Placed an offer on a property yesterday evening and they said they had one more viewing today. Just looked on Right Move and it has been sold. No phone call or email either way. Is this the market now? It seems very unprofessional

It is unprofessional. Usually only happens with people like purple bricks and not decent agents. Really sorry you missed out.

It was with a fairly established agents. It's just one of those things but it's poor in my opinion not to explain.

That’s very poor but it could have been an oversight and n error.

They usually contact you to see if you will bid more if there are several offers on the table. However I had an offer accepted only to be called an hour later saying a higher offer from a full cash buyer had come in and they were going with them, I got no chance to offer more. Very disappointing but it’s how the market is at the moment.
The EA have probably been busy sorting out the sale and have forgotten to tell you.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 10/06/2021 18:08

Could it be your offer that’s been accepted? They should of course contact you either way.

They may have not got around to informing you just yet, probably busier with the people who have had their offer accepted.

Disappointing, but ultimately you aren't their client.

I had that with an offer. Agent was absolutely silent and then when I called they said they "left me a voicemail but probably called the wrong number", which I doubt.
This is unprofessional but I think all of them are very busy at the moment unfortunately.

Happened to me and I was livid as I would have gone well above asking. Estate agent just apologised and said house was off the market and that was it :/

@hackn3ygirl do you work for nosey?

ManyMaybes · 11/06/2021 08:35

I suppose they might have received a really attractive offer and the buyer said the property needed to come off the market straight away.

Livingintheclouds · 13/06/2021 10:04

They certainly should have called you, if only to see if you could up your offer as there was a competing buyer! Unless the agent you spoke to was different from the other agent who took the other offer, and there wasn't the right communication in the office. But I'd ring them and ask about your offer saying you haven't heard back and see what they say.
The house I offered on is still looking active on rightmove, even though the agent says no viewings will take place. I did tell him this is very frustrating for prospective buyers.
