Just curious for people's opinions on whether you think the stamp duty holiday will be extended past 30th June or if the current proposal will go ahead?

Eat out to help out was rishi sunak’s biggest fuck up, but the stamp duty cut was also a disaster. Totally unnecessary boom and - I suspect - bust for the housing market.
@UpTheJunktion great post! Smile

100% agreed on the question of the validity of the tax full stop considering the revenue already being generated for the government from people purchasing property - especially those needing renovation / refurbishment
for me, the biggest issue with Stamp Duty was that when it was introduced, £250k would buy you a friggin mansion, whereas these days, in many places, it's lucky to buy you a 2 bedroom terraced house.

But you are right, the revenue generated through making sure that estate agents, conveyancers, removal firms, decorating firms, builders/plumbers/electricians plus furniture retailers, carpet retailers etc should surely show that the housing market is generating a far whack of income for the treasury

Government close the door on stamp duty changes.

Really hope the boiling hot market can cool down a bit.
