Selling a garden

Has anyone ever sold off all or any part of their garden? My garden is just too big for me to cope with and I wondered if anyone had actually sold their garden to a builder who had then gone on to build a new house/ bungalow on it.
I realise this is an odd request but is it possible/ realistic?

Of course it is possible but the plot will need access either directly or via right of way. Transfer of part form needs to be completed with plans lodged to show extent of land being transfered highly advise to do this through a conveyancer as there may be easements etc to take into consideration.

Well just be careful, in my parent's town someone sold off part of their garden to developers peeing off all the neighbours in the process.

One night the house mysteriously got set on fire. Luckily the new owners weren't in the property...

Also ask the neighbours, I bought some of my neighbours garden, I paid less than a builder would but in return I signed a 20 year covenant that I wouldn't build on it. That way they weren't overlooked and I had more garden

That’s really not what happens everywhere.

You should get planning permission before you well. Engage an architect who can advise. Driveway issues must be considered and planning policies. Would back garden development be allowed? Consult with an expert who knows. Several People I know had the new house for themselves and sold off the bigger one.

Before you sell.
