Any experiences on nationwide home emergency cover?

How responsive were they?

@Sometimesfraught82 I think we had this and we used it. So when we moved into this house the vendor called us as 12 to say the keys had just been dropped off at the estate agents (weird as we knew they had moved out 2 days before as they were going into rented) and at this point she tells me that the hot water tank is leaking. Great, I had 2 kids and potentially no hot water and she had known for 2 days.

I rang Nationwide who did send someone out, and this is the important bit in their contract with you

"We’ll pay for:
• temporary repairs to resolve emergency situations"

and that is what the chap did, came out, turned the supply on to the hot water tank, saw it was leaking and just turned the fucking tank supply off again. Err hello, I already did that, are you going to fix it? No. It comes under

"to prevent further damage to your home as a result of failure or damage to the plumbing or drainage system." so they just turned off the water.

And it wasn't covered as it was a maintenance issue with the tank which needed replacing so I had to call a local plumber and get him to replace the tank and we had to pay the bill for that. Would I recommend it, probably because of what they do cover, but be aware of what they deem they will fix. All that stuff quoted above is from their Terms and Conditions. My issue was over a decade ago.

Thank you

Yes that was wear and tear so totally understand they didn’t repair
But at least they came out quickly
