Would it be crazy to try this?

Currently renting, tenancy ends in September, baby no2 due in Nov. Wanting to buy our first house. Would we be crazy to try and move before the baby comes? Does it even seem possible?

@Ariela Well, let's hope this seller thinks like you do!

@ArchbishopOfBanterbury Yes, can go to monthly rolling so that's not an issue. More just thinking about having a newborn while moving and getting an aip while on maternity but lots of people on here have shared reassuring experiences.

It went to best and final, we didn't get it. Cash buyer with no chain. I feel so gutted, I know it's ridiculous and I need to pull myself together but I'm just crying my eyes out- pregnancy hormones not helping. It all felt so perfect. Really didn't realise how sad I would be.

Aww so sorry you didn't get it. It's bloody brutal out there. I'll not tell you how long it's taken us...... it will scare you Smile
Everyone will tell you 'it wasn't meant to be' but that's just infuriating!
You will find somewhere though, it's a long frustrating game at the minute.

@HumourReplacementTherapy Thanks for a kind reply. Sorry to hear it's taking so long for you. I think this has maybe prepared me for how brutal it will be. I got my hopes up too much, time to stay realistic. The ea has said theres a bit of trepidation wih the buyer though which is strange. I would rather they didnt keep that glimmer of hope but hey. Onto the next one!

Ah sorry to hear that, genuinely it's been nice to follow your story even if it's not the conclusion you wanted.

But there will be another property out there for you. At least you've made the first steps and learned along the way, ready for the next time.

Chin up :)

From offer to completion it took us 5 months and we moved in at 34 weeks pregnant. However it was delayed, and I wouldn't have chosen this. Only 3 properties involved. We had AIP already.

PurBal · 18/06/2021 20:00

Totally missed all your updates OP. Hope something else works out for you.

Whuut · 18/06/2021 20:07

@readytosell Thank you. It's also been so nice to have this. I've felt like I'm going a bit mad sometimes and probably driving dp mad too so It's nice to have others to talk to and a bit of an outlet. Will definitely keep updating.

@PurBal Thanks. I think the being pregnant bit is what is stressing me out. I feel like we are on a short time frame if everything goes right, let alone if there's delays!

Well, for anyone still slightly interested.. The buying of the house we really wanted has pulled out so, our offer has been accepted!!

Beyond happy and a bit too excited. Suddenly feeling overwhelmed with the next steps. It all feels surreal as a month ago I didnt even think we could buy a house!

That's fantastic @Whuut. Fingers crossed it's plain sailing.

@FakeFruitShoot Thank you. Me too!
