We live in a beautiful quiet hamlet on a narrow single lane road. Our neighbour owns 19 acres of land in a listed house. We are the poor neighbours Grin
They've basically been given a permitted development licence to open a camping site in the field nearest us. Practically the whole village has complained to the council but to no avail! As its temporary for 56 nights (which they've already broken rules by opening early) they're also being investigated by the council as they have installed some hard standing areas, which are not allowed.
I've repeatedly asked for the investigation results but have had no reply.
They're keeping lights on in the field until 11.30pm, playing music and lighting fire pits. Our life is now hell! Theres so much traffic, blocking the road as there are no passing points, kids running and screaming and our local playground overrun. We are at the end of our tether!

Anything else we can do???

If you’re complaining about something that is covered by Permitted Development, then you’re not going to get very far. If you’re complaining about something that is beyond PD, then the Council can look to take Enforcement Action.

Assume in the first instance you have approached them to talk about the impact on you/the village? Or are they people who do not take kindly to people trying to interfere?

They have ignored all requests to talk sadly. What would be considered beyond PD?

Hard standing and permanent power/water would potentially contravene. Could the lights and noise be causing nuisance? Flooding/drainage risk from concreting field? Access on to narrow road especially with trailers/caravans.

Have you got your local councillor on board?

The diversification of farm land is difficult to stop. It’s policy in lots of areas to allow it. I understand the 56 day rule is reverting to 28 at the end of this year. The alterations to the site (hard standing and drainage) are worth reporting.

The attached is what my planning authority say on the matter. It’s not great for you I’m afraid.
